Reddi Lala.'s Story

I'm in a temporary foster home! If you're interested in making me part of your family, please contact CHA to schedule a meeting with me!
šŸ’– Meet Lala! šŸ’–
Lala is an absolutely beautiful young hound who is learning that life as a beloved family companion is pretty wonderful. Formerly used as a hunting dog, she came into foster care unsure of the world around her. New sights, sounds, and experiences can still be scary, but every day she grows a little braver.

Over the past few weeks, Lala has made incredible progress. She is crate trained, nearly house trained, and will let you know when she needs to go outside by whining, pacing, or circling. She loves having a cozy crate to retreat to and will often choose to relax there with the door open.

Lala adores gentle human affection and has formed a strong bond with her foster family. She enjoys walks, toys, treats, and spending time with her canine friend, Lenny, who has helped show her that the world isn't such a scary place. Because of this, she would do best in a home with another confident, friendly dog.

While Lala can be nervous around loud noises, sudden movements, traffic, and unfamiliar situations, she recovers quickly and looks to her people for reassurance. She is learning that cars, trucks, and everyday sounds aren't something to fear, and her confidence continues to blossom.

Lala has done well with respectful children who allow her to approach at her own pace. She is a quiet dog who rarely barks and prefers cuddles over chaos.

She would thrive with a patient family willing to continue building her confidence through positive experiences and routine. Due to her tendency to startle when frightened, a securely fenced yard or leash walks are a must while she adjusts to her new home.

As for cats, Lala has made significant progress in foster care. While she initially wanted to chase and bark at the resident cat, she is learning to coexist peacefully with slow introductions and proper management. A dog-savvy cat and patient adopter may be successful, but her new family should be prepared to continue this work.

Watching Lala discover toys, friendship, comfort, and love has been incredibly rewarding. She still has some growing to do, but beneath her timid exterior is a sweet, gentle soul just waiting for the right family to help her shine. ✨🐾

Lala will be spayed in early June and available for adoption shortly afterward through Chequamegon Humane Association. All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped. Dogs are tested for heartworm. A minimum adoption fee of $185 is required for adult dogs, puppy adoption fees start $300, and dogs over the age of 10 are $100. Adult cat adoption fees are $85, kittens under one year are $135, and cats over the age of 10 are $50.
