His Kentucky owner severely neglected all of his dogs and the dogs were seized by animal control. Red had been living in a small pen with one other dog, who had starved to death and was just laying there in the dirt. Several other dogs were also found dead on the property. <br/><br/>Red had a body score of 1, severely starved, but he didn't try to eat his friend. One day, the nightmare ended and he was taken to the county shelter. He lived in a shelter for a year while the court case transpired. The owners lost their attempt to get their dogs back. Red was finally allowed to leave the shelter in November 2025 and with the good care he received, he was at a normal weight when he left the shelter. <br/><br/>But Red didn't have a normal life and he does suffer a bit from anxieties and worries. His foster family is very patient with him and he is making good progress.
