Red Retriever Mix Omaha, NE

Every once in a while you find a dog who is just happy-go-lucky. The kind of dog who seems to like everyone he meets, and who greets the world with a wagging tail. That's Red.
This pup is only about 2 years old. When he came to rescue, it was obvious he had gone hungry many times. He's so very thin. We had him vetted, and now he's starting to put on some weight. He sure appreciates little things in life - a meal, a walk, getting his ears scratched, being close to his people.
Red loves people and other dogs, he's just the friendly sort. His foster mom says he's a really good boy - a big puppy. He's still young and will need some training but he's very smart. Red seems to be house-trained. He had one accident in his foster home, probably a little nervousness at first, and otherwise has been accident-free.
Red loves to play fetch, and he adores toys. He's been known to shred a soft toy, but he's never destroyed anything inappropriate like household items.
Red loves to be active and play, and then he'll crash and snooze while his people are working. He also knows to kennel up when home alone.
We would love to see Red in a loving home where he can thrive. He has so much to offer. Red would do best in a house (vs. an apartment) because he is in tune with noises and will at times bark/alert. He also whines for about 15-20 min when first left alone. We feel a home with a fenced yard would be wonderful, so he can run and play safely (no electric fences, please).
