Red - 4-month-old male white mix puppy's Story
Red - 4-month-old male white mix puppy 41lbs

Background.
Mama Gracie and her seven puppies (six boys and one girl) were surrendered to us from their central valley owner in mid December. The pups were born on December 5th and had been living in a wooden box in the backyard. We believe the puppies' dad is a Great Pyrenees (see his photo). Mama is a major mix of 10+ breeds. So Red is a "supermutt" -- a blend of many breeds -- perhaps with very little Lab in him. Six of the puppies have been adopted. Red is the last one up for adoption.

Meet Red the puppy -- https://youtu.be/Gzm4XWGMbic

Red the puppy -- https://youtu.be/Q6i7fVCV9Ug

Romping with The Red -- https://youtu.be/bye_nW0VRxM

Red romping with mama Gracie -- https://youtu.be/wl3wo0pdi60

Hanging with the 45-day-old puppies -- https://youtu.be/Ye0L0xxIQl8

What Red's foster says.
Mama "Gracie" nursed her seven charges relentlessly and they grew like weeds. Red is currently 41 pounds at 4 months old. Red is a voracious eater. We are working on his house-training; great at pooping outside; not so great on peeing outside -- he seems to think peeing inside on the tarp in his x-pen is THE place to pee -- ugh, work in progress. Sleeps through the night with nary a peep. Loves to romp and wrestle. Very engaging with the other dogs in my home... he wants to play and wrassle. Everything goes in his mouth; everything is tasty -- gotta watch him like a hawk. Spends most of his day with his mama Gracie.

What Red's Rescue Rep says.
Looking for an adopter who is going in eyes wide open -- regarding puppy care... and juvenile dog handling and training and management and fun. Gracie is also up for adoption -- see her separate listing. Would love for Red to go to a home with an existing mature dog that can mentor him. Obedience training and ongoing socialization with other dogs will be critical for Red's success. Perhaps not ideal for family with small children due to Red's jumpiness, puppy biting, and general rowdiness.

More of what Red's Rescue Rep says.
Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep. Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep... repeat, repeat, repeat. Puppy-raising is also filled with joy and fun. Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes and arms when available. Young puppies quickly grow up and become big rowdy juveniles that need lots of exercise and structure and patience from their humans.

Several puppy handouts from Marin Humane are fabulous reads:

Puppy World -- https://marinhumane.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Puppy-World.pdf

Puppy Health -- https://marinhumane.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Puppy-Health.pdf

Puppy Socialization -- https://marinhumane.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Puppy-Socialization.pdf

Medical.
Red is quite healthy. Has received two of three) DHPP vaccinations -- last one is due on 27 March. Red will need to be quarantined in his home (and backyard) until he receives his final DHPP vaccination... to ensure he remains safe from parvo and other ailments.

Neutering and microchipping will be down the road. Red is currently 41 pounds... on his way to, perhaps, 80 pounds.

Red is located in: Placerville.

If you want to adopt Red, please contact Rescue Rep Dave at david.c.ely@sbcglobal.net.
