Raven's Story

All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step.
Meet Raven — a beautiful 1-year-old Black Lab/Collie mix with the sweetest soul. Found as a stray in Georgia, this girl was understandably scared and shut down in the shelter environment. But once she landed in her foster home, her true personality started to shine — and according to her foster mom, she’s an absolute “dream.' Raven is gentle, and easygoing in the home. She’s housebroken, appears to be crate trained, rides wonderfully in the car, and doesn’t even seem bothered by thunder storms. She gets along great with other dogs and is respectful with cats too, making her an easy addition to just about any family.

At only 38 pounds, Raven is currently on the skinny side, but she’s happily working on gaining weight and filling out. What she lacks in pounds, she makes up for in love and charm. Now, we do have to mention her leash walking skills — or lack thereof. Raven currently walks a little like a happy drunk tourist who’s never seen a sidewalk before. She zigzags, wanders, and generally treats walks like a full-body adventure. But she’s young, eager to please, and with a little consistency and leash practice, she’s sure to improve quickly. Raven is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and officially ready to find the forever family she deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, loving companion who will make you smile every day, Raven may just be your perfect match!

All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped.
The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only.
