Update - 10/18/16 - Rascal is now in a foster home and he is doing GREAT! His foster family has let us know that he is coming out of his shell and that Rascal is truly a sweet, happy, and friendly dog to the point that he is completely different then the way he was at the shelter. In his foster home there is another dog and Rascal is having the time of his life running around in the fenced in yard and playing fetch and tug of war with his new canine friend. There are also older children in the foster home and he behaves well around them too. Rascal loves to take his spot on the couch while the family relaxes and watches TV and he also has plenty of toys to play with which is making him so happy! All Rascal needs is love, patience, praise, and positive reinforcement and he can become the perfect dog that we all know he can truly be! Rascal is an 11 month old tricolor lab and great dane mix that just arrived at our Butler shelter. Rascal is a little bit on the shy side but our wonderful volunteers are taking him for long walks and spending lots of time with him to help him come out of his shell. We know that there is a great dog hiding underneath his shyness and all Rascal needs is a new owner that will be patient with him and give him nothing but praise and positive reinforcement. Rascal loves having another dog around as it makes feel more at ease and playful so he would do great in a home with another dog. However small children usually startle Rascal and make him nervous so he cannot be in a home with any young children or with cats. Rascal walks well on a leash so anyone of any age can walk him. He has already been neutered, is microchipped, and is up to date on all of his vaccinations.
