Raquel - Money Heist Litter's Story

***Currently located in Guerrero, Mexico

Hi, I'm Raquel!

I'm part of the Money Heist Litter — yep, we've got some serious star power in our names! My seven siblings and I were found in a very dangerous area near a busy street. Life was tough, but a kind shop owner had been feeding our brave mama, Lisbon, helping her stay strong until help arrived. Even though Surfers for Strays were already full, they didn't turn us away. They visited us every day, made sure Mama had enough food, and watched over us until they could create a safe space at the shelter. Thanks to their determination (and a bit of creativity with quarantine space!), we were finally brought to safety. Now, we're all growing up surrounded by love, care, and plenty of tail wags.

When I first arrived, I was timid and unsure. I needed time and patience to understand that I was finally safe. I'm still learning — but every day I grow a little braver. Slow introductions are key with me: I like to watch the situation first, take a breath, and decide at my own pace. Once I'm comfortable, my tail wags like a helicopter and sometimes I can't help myself and I jump, wiggle, and bark with excitement like you're the best thing I've ever seen. Which you are of course!

I'm a dog who loves balance:
Energy when we play
Soft quiet time afterward

I have playful, goofy bursts of zoomies, and then you'll find me sprawled on my back, paws in the air, sunbathing like royalty. (It's my signature position — 10/10 comfort, highly recommend.)

Other dogs are my greatest confidence boosters. They help me understand the world better, and I absolutely adore playing with them. Wrestling, chase, silly games — sign me up! Toys are fun sometimes, but nothing compares to a real live dog friend. If I could pick, I'd really love a home with another dog who can show me the ropes. ‍

I'm still learning to trust humans in close contact. I used to have an infection on my face, so sometimes I get a little uncomfortable if people reach there — but belly rubs? YES PLEASE. I'll roll over dramatically just to ask for them. When I do that, it means I trust you. It's my way of saying, “Okay... I'm safe with you.”

I already know sit and stay, and I'm smart, treat-motivated, and eager to learn — especially with someone gentle. Walks can feel overwhelming at first, especially with new people or new places, and I may pull or try to move away if I feel scared. But with someone patient, consistent, and kind, I'll blossom.

I also go into my crate calmly — it feels like a safe little den for me, and I'm proud of myself for that.

I dream of a family who will give me the space to come out of my shell on my terms. Someone who understands that nervous dogs aren't broken — we're just waiting for the right person to help us bloom.

Once I love you... I love you forever.
And I promise — that moment will be worth the wait.

With hope and a waggy tail,
Raquel

If you'd like to Foster, click on the Foster Button and complete the online Foster Application.
If you are interested in Adopting, please click on the Adopt Button and complete the online Adoption Application.
VOLUNTEER - Contact us for Volunteer Opportunities

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
