Ranger Willis 26-02-089's Story

Meet Ranger Willis - our very own former "park ranger" turned hopeful house dog.
For over five years, Ranger called Buescher State Park his home (yes, really!). When he was finally brought into the shelter, he surprised everyone by how easy he was to handle. Although you had to corner him to pick him up, he was still incredibly gentle and kind hearted.
Ranger is a soft soul. While he can be a bit reserved at first, it's not fear or aggression, just a quiet, thoughtful nature. He has never shown any bite history or fear-based behaviors. He simply needs a patient, understanding person willing to give him the time he's never had.
And here's the beautiful part: once he feels safe, he blossoms.
In foster care, after about two weeks, Ranger went from keeping his distance to feeling comfortable enough to hop into his foster's chair to sit beside her. That's who he is. Slow to trust, but deeply loving once he does.
Great with dogs, cats, and even chickens
Neutered, microchipped, HW+
Approximately 7-8 years old
~30 lbs of pure, perfect-sized sweetness
Ranger isn't looking for perfection, just patience. And in return, he'll give you the kind of quiet, loyal love that only a dog like him can offer.
If you believe in second chances and gentle hearts, Ranger is waiting.
