Ranger's Story

If you're looking for a super friendly dog, Ranger is your guy! He likes people, small dogs, big dogs and he may even like cats, we just haven't tested him with one. Ranger came to us from a local shelter where he had spent some time after being picked up from a home where he had been left behind when his owners moved out. The shelter labeled him a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, somewhere between 5 and 7 years old, but we're pretty sure there's another retriever line mixed in as well.

1) Adoption Application: https://frrescue.knack.com/db#adopter-application/
2) Adoption Areas: Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego County
3) Our dogs are located in foster homes throughout Southern California
4) Website: https://www.fetchinretrieversrescue.org/

Yes, he does need to lose some weight, but he's already taken off a few pounds with better food and more exercise in his foster home. The silver lining is that even though he's a big boy, he is easy to walk on leash. He loves going for walks and doesn't pull, so at 80 pounds and losing more steadily he's a good candidate for someone who wants a walking buddy and is committed to continuing his weight loss regimen.

Ranger is house trained, has yet to bark at anything/anyone and doesn't beg for food, but he might check out the kitchen counter if something tasty is left out. It appears that his owners didn't teach him the basic commands like sit, down, come, stay so his foster is working on that, but he is treat motivated and wants to please his peeps. We don't know if there were kids in his original home, but because of his size we think any children should be at least 10. All in all, this boy is already showing us what a wonderful companion he will be.
