Ranger's Story

If you are interested in any of the dogs available at New Leash Rescue, you can reach out to the foster listed below for more information and then complete an adoption application which can be found at https://www.newleashrescue.org/adopt/policy. Please email the completed application to newleashrescue2018@gmail.com

Meet Ranger! Ranger is a 3 year old Catahoula mix who came to us from a shelter. He was adopted and then returned because of his owner moving.

Ranger is good with other dogs, and good with people, but he needs to know he can trust people first. If people push him too far too fast, he can get a little snappy, so he will do best in a home that will ensure he has structure around new people and visitors. He also doesn't like a lot of handling around his neck, and is sensitive to it. He will be best in a home with older children, age 10 and up. He can be a cuddle bug too and he likes to lay in bed if he's allowed.

Ranger is house trained and crate trained. He is currently 80 pounds and needs to lose weight. He is active and loves to play with other dogs but he doesn't want other dogs taking things away from him.

Ranger is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix and he will do best with a family who is familiar with his breed. Catahoula's have cool coats and coloring but they are not a dog for everyone and he needs to find his best fit family. Ranger is neutered, fecal tested negative, microchipped, as well as current on vaccinations and on preventatives. Contact his fosters to learn more!

An approved application is required prior to any meet and greets.

Adoption fee is $300 +tax (no checks)

To inquire: email adopt@newleashrescue.org or submit an application.

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home.

Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
