Ralphy’s FAQs

What is HugABull Advocacy and Rescue Society’s adoption process?

Ready for a new family member? Read the information below to learn more about our adoption program! 1. Complete our adoption application. This allows us to find out a little more about you and determine which dog will be a match. If you are interested in a specific dog on our Adoptables page, please indicate this on the application. 2. Phone interview. One of our Foster & Adoption Coordinators will schedule a mutually convenient time to chat on the phone about your application. You can discuss your needs and lifestyle, and which foster dogs might be a match for you. 3. Home check. This is part of our screening process and an opportunity to discuss how to integrate a dog into your home. 4. Arrange a meet and greet with the dog(s) determined to be a suitable match. You are encouraged to bring family members and current pets to see if there is chemistry. 5. Cooling-off period and de-briefing with your HugABull rep. Adoption is a lifetime commitment, and we discourage impulse adoptions. We ask that you take at least 24 hours to discuss the adoption with your family. 6. Two week ‘foster-to-adopt’ trial period. Your adoption rep will coach you through the process of integrating the dog into your home, and will be available to answer any questions. 7. If the dog is a fit, the adoption contract is signed and it's official! All dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped or tattooed, and vetted prior to adoption. If there are any medical or training needs identified during the foster or foster-to-adopt period, HugABull will provide support and a transition plan for the adoptive family. 8. HugABull is also a resource for the lifetime of the dog, and you can contact us at any point for support.
