Raiya's Story

Raiya is a goofy girl who is looking for a forever home prepared to manage her medical intricacies.
Raiya is settling in well with her foster family. She gets along well with her calm, older foster sister and she has been generally respectful of her feline foster brothers - though she has been swatted for invading their personal space a couple times! He favorite activities include shredding cardboard and performing squeaker-ectomies on her toys. She is also a sock and sneaker collector.
Raiya has decent recall and sticks close at the dog park. She plays well with other dogs and loves making friends. She walks well on leash and is fully house trained. She has been successfully left home alone for short periods.
Raiya has a seizure disorder that will require medications twice daily for the rest of her life.
Raiya also suffers from some mobility issues including hip dysplasia and arthritis of her elbows and knees, and will require pain medications and exercise modification as needed. She needs to be kept as lean as healthily possible which is approximately 10-15lbs lighter than she currently is, so she needs a home dedicated to her weight-loss journey.
Both of these conditions will require consistent health checks and bloodwork to ensure her medications are working well!
Raiya's ideal home would be either as a solo dog who gets all your attention or with a medium energy dog who is respectful of her orthopedic issues. A dog savvy kitty would also be fine!

Pause4Change's Adoption Policy
Due to integration issues, there are some pets with incorrect statues or are missing from Petfinder. Please visit our website for the most up to date information. We first do an online application through our website, then if we think the application aligns with our mission we do a phone screening, from here if they still seem like a good fit we do an initial meet and greet with the foster home, if that goes well the animal then goes for a home visit for the day where the foster home gets to go see the house and make sure there are no concerns. From there the adoption will proceed. If the dog / cat is not spayed yet they will go into foster to adopt until the surgery is performed.
