Raisin's Story

Meet Raisin - or as his foster lovingly says, "Raisin is amazin'!"

This sweet, cuddly boy is the total package: happy, playful, and incredibly people-oriented. Raisin absolutely loves being around his humans and will happily make the rounds to say hello to everyone he meets. He's a social butterfly with a gentle soul. While he enjoys playtime, he never gets too rowdy and will quickly trade toys for a cozy spot on your lap. If you're looking for a laid-back, affectionate companion, Raisin is your guy.

Raisin can be a little timid at first, especially around bigger dogs, but he's learning and gaining confidence every day. He's shown that he communicates well with other dogs and respects boundaries, and he may even enjoy having a calm canine friend in the home. As for kids, he's shown interest and curiosity when seeing them, and while his sweet nature suggests he'd do well, he'd likely be happiest with gentle, respectful kiddos who understand his need for personal space since he's not a big fan of being overly handled or picked up, though he'll politely tolerate it.

This smart little man is also a training star in the making. He's very food motivated (he'll always pick snacks over toys!) and has already nearly mastered "sit" while working on "down." He's eager to please, loves training sessions, and picks things up quickly which makes continued learning a breeze.

Raisin gets an A+ in house training and is doing great! He's still building confidence with crate training, protesting for a couple of minutes, but then settles in quietly and does just fine.

Quick stats!
--Dogs: interactions have mostly been positive, but some training will help
--Cats: interactions have gone mostly well, but will need some additional training
--Children: has not been introduced to children in the home
--Likes: learning new tricks when treats are involved, his humans, and snuggle time on the couch

If Raisin sounds like the right fit for your home, fill out an adoption application today! muttsofthemidway.org/adopt

Mutts of the Midway's Adoption Policy
Thank you for choosing to adopt and your interest in Mutts of the Midway. Once there is an interest in a dog, our adoption application is completed with that dog noted. The application is vetted and two personal references and one veterinarian reference are checked. If approved, a meet and greet is set-up with all family members (including children and other dogs) and the adoptable dog. If the adopter and foster family agree it is a good fit, the adoption contract is completed and the adoption fee ($350 for a dog 6 months and younger, $300 for a dog older than 6 months) is paid. Finally the pick-up of the new family member is arranged! All applications are processed in the order they are received and we strive to find the best home for each of our dogs. All adopted animals will go into their forever home current on vaccines, microchipped, spay/neutered, heartworm preventative and given a health exam.
