Rain's Story

Rain is a certified snort machine, and she’s not afraid to flaunt it. At 3.5 years old, this chunky little momma is packed full of personality, charm, and enough piggy noises to keep you laughing all day long.

Rain originally came to the shelter with her three puppies… already big, growing dogs of their own. After spending her life taking care of everyone else, it’s finally Rain’s turn to be cared for. Now that her mom duties are behind her, she’s ready for the cozy, spoiled life she deserves.

Built low and solid, all 78 pounds of Rain are filled with love, wiggles, and snuffling. She has the squishiest face imaginable, a constantly wagging butt, and the kind of goofy charm that turns complete strangers into instant fans. Rain loves walks where she can sniff every inch of the world, happily snorting along the way.

Recently, thanks to our Mend A Paw Program, Rain had surgery on her soft palate to help her breathe more comfortably. She’s healed beautifully and is officially ready for summer adventures, couch naps, and snack-sharing sessions.

Rain also recently spent time in a foster home, where she absolutely thrived. She walked wonderfully on leash, did great in her crate, and spent most of her time snoozing at her foster’s feet. Her ideal evening? Sharing a french fry, watching Netflix together, and being your loyal little sidekick.

Rain is looking for an experienced home where she can finally settle in and enjoy life as someone’s beloved companion. She’s affectionate, funny, sweet, and wonderfully goofy — the perfect gal pal for someone looking for a loyal best friend.

*Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment to meet a dog, we may not be able to assist you.

Please call the shelter (516-869-6311) during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10AM-4PM) for more information about this dog, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability.
