Rain's Story
Rain is a charming little 6 yr old female miniature poodle that came into our program from a breeder. She weighs 10# - good thing she's small, because she'd spend all day in your lap if you were available. Very affectionate. Having lived her whole life around other small dogs, she's never been alone, so its best if her adoptive family either has someone that is home much of the time and/or another small, playful dog for company. We expect she would be fine with an older, respectful child 10 yr. and older, that won't pick her up and accidentally drop her. No cat experience. Rain hasn't had any accidents in her foster home -gets out first thing in the morning and every 3-4 hours til bedtime. She currently sleeps in a big crate, so she won't feel too confined ,the door can be left open, or it can be closed. She'd probably love to sleep in bed with you, but would either need to be lifted on and off the bed, or given a set of doggie steps to use. Rain has never used steps before, and is slowly learning how - she's good going both up and down on the concrete steps; on the open steps she will run up, but wont go down them yet. Mastering steps is a work in progress, but the fewer stairs the better in her new home. She knows her name, comes when called, and doesn't pull on leash. Rides well in the car. Barks appropriately (someone coming into the house), but otherwise just joins in if the other dogs bark. Likes an occasional Greenie to chew on, but no inappropriate chewing. Rain is missing her front teeth (top and bottom), but has her canines to hold her tongue in place. To make it a little easier to eat, her foster soaks the dry kibble and adds a little soft food to it, but Rain can eat dry kibble. This little sweetheart always makes you feel like you are the most important thing in her life, and is always excited to see you.

Rain is current on distemper and rabies vaccinations, and has been spayed. The 4DX (which includes the heartworm test) is negative. Her microchip is registered to Second Chance. She will need to be groomed 4-6 times a year - be sure you can afford this ongoing expense. Her adoption fee is $400. Call 651-771-5662 if you are interested in Rain.
