Raider's Story

Raider
Sex: MALE Age: 4.5

Prefer to be an only dog, GOOD with kids 8+, GOOD with dog-savvy cats

Hi, I’m Raider! I’m kind of a macho-looking guy but once you meet me in person, you’ll see that I’m really 60 pounds of charm, smarts, and snuggles. You know how the perfect day for the Jersey Shore boys was GTL (gym, tan, laundry)? Well, my perfect day is CTL (catch, treats, lounge).

Give me a frisbee or a ball, and it’s on! I’ve never met a ball I’m not interested in - a soccer ball, a tennis ball, a herding ball, I love them all. While I love playing fetch, frisbee is my absolute favorite. I’d love a home where my human will play disc with me, whether just for fun or in competitions. Don’t worry, my foster mom will give you the rundown. I love toys so much but I also have a really good “out” command to make sure it's fun for both of us.

And speaking of fun, aren’t snacks so fun too?! I love any treats really - meat, veggie, crunchy or frozen! If you like to cook, I’d like to apply to be your new sous-chef! I looooove a good crunchy veggie the most. Carrots, apples, cucumbers, bell peppers - if you're chopping, I’m right there to help clean up the scraps. My foster mom even gave me a full head of cabbage once (it was like a giant ball you can eat!!!). While all the other dogs had so much fun shredding theirs, I happily chomped it like a giant apple - one bite at a time.

I know I sound like a real ball of energy but my foster mom says I am so mellow when it’s time to chill. I can be an athlete but I’m also a snuggly couch potato if that’s the vibe. The more blankets and pillows the better, I will pile everything up make a perfect nest. My foster mom says that my fur is ridiculously soft, so if you’re looking for a 10/10 cuddle buddy, I’m your guy. And get this - I actually watch TV. Reality shows are my guilty pleasure, especially when there are lots of people on screen (and drama). But if the people on screen play games with a ball or have a furry friend, I need an UP CLOSE view, like those people who sit front row at the movies.

Now you know about CTL and my favorite day. So, what’s my quirk? We all have at least one! I need to be the only dog in the home, which is fine cause I’d rather do my own thing and hang with my people instead. I’m not reactive at all! I don’t mind seeing dogs in a distance on walks, in the yard, or at the brewery. I just would prefer not to meet them since I’ve been unpredictable with one-on-one interactions in the past. Honestly, I’m way more into humans (and toys) anyway, so I’m perfectly happy flying solo.

I’ve had nothing but great experiences with humans, though I can get a little too excited sometimes (60 pounds of bouncing love can be a lot, so little kids should be prepared). But everyone who meets me says I’m so sweet, and it’s one of my best qualities.

I’d thrive in a home where I can be the center of attention and keep my brain and body busy. My foster is having a blast playing toy-related impulse control games with me, and I’d love a family that wants to keep up the fun!

So, what do you say? Want to CTL forever and ever?
