Ragnar's Story

Personality: He's very sweet and affectionate but does need his space advocated for him with new people. He is fun, has no separation anxiety, is very loyal and loving, and will be a great companion for his people.<br/><br/>Education: Crate trained but sometimes will howl in the mornings, fully bathroom trained and walks well on leash<br/><br/>Favorite Activities: Walking, hiking, running, playing tug<br/><br/>Looking For: Home with adults only; other dogs would be fine. He is OK being alone while his people are working but would love to have someone who wants to spend time with him going for walks, hikes, and runs. He is not a couch potato and would love to continue training with someone.<br/><br/>Special Needs/Concerns: None<br/><br/>Bio: Hi there! My name is Ragnar, and I'm a 3-year-and-5-month-old Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix, weighing about 70 pounds of pure love. I was rescued from ESLR in Mexico, and ever since then, I've been ready to start my next chapter with a forever family!<br/><br/>I'm a sweet, fun-loving, and affectionate boy in great health, and I've already been neutered. I absolutely love staying active - whether it's going for walks, runs, hikes, or playing a good game of tag. I usually get along well with most dogs I meet, though I haven't had much experience around cats yet. I'd also do best in a home without kiddos.<br/><br/>As far as my training is concerned, I'm fully potty trained and walk nicely on a leash. I'm crate-trained, too, but tend to howl a bit in the mornings when I'm ready to start my day. I can be a little unsure when new people approach too quickly, so I'd love someone who can help advocate for me and give me time to feel comfortable in new situations.<br/><br/>I would thrive in an active home where I can have a daily "job," continue my training, and stay mentally and physically engaged. A doggie sibling would be great, but I'd also be perfectly happy being your one and only. While I don't have any separation anxiety and do fine on my own, I'd love someone who's home most of the time to keep me company. In return, I promise to be your most loyal and loving companion!<br/><br/>My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please apply!<br/><br/>Ragnar's freedom ride was graciously sponsored by Raja Dugyala!<br/><br/>Social Media: <br/>- Instagram at @Dennyk9training

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
