Rachel's Story
Rachel may be a 2-year-old shepherd mix, but more specifically, we’re pretty sure she’s also 50% dog, 25% rabbit, 25% fox, and 100% adorable. With her striking coloring, fluffy tail, and those gigantic expressive ears, she has a look that’s somehow equal parts elegant and goofy—and completely irresistible.

Originally from Louisiana, Rachel was a shelter favorite down there, and it’s easy to see why. She can be a little shy when meeting new people or dogs, but she warms up quickly. Once she does, she reveals her true personality: a total lovebug who lives for affection and connection.

Rachel absolutely loves playing with other dogs and would happily spend hours wrestling and romping with canine friends. She gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and is also fantastic with kids. Despite her playful streak, she’s always ready for snuggles too—she truly thinks she’s a lapdog and will climb right into your lap the moment she spots an opening. She’ll nuzzle under your arm, burrow into your side, and give endless kisses.

Potty-trained, crate-trained, and very food-motivated, Rachel is picking up her basic training quickly. She has shown some curiosity about cats, but we think she’ll coexist well once she learns their boundaries.

If you’re looking for a pup who balances fun-loving energy with cuddly sweetness, Rachel might just be your perfect match. She brings joy wherever she goes and will thrive in a home ready for both playtime and plenty of snuggles.

If you’re interested in adopting, please fill out our application, and someone will be in touch with you shortly!
https://animalwelfarefriends.org/adopt/application/
