Rachel's Story
Rachel is a 3–4-year-old sweetheart who's come a long way from her days as a stray on the streets of Chicago—and she's more than ready to find a home of her own.

At around 57 pounds, Rachel is a healthy, happy girl (with just a little room for a few extra “treat pounds” if you ask her ). She's recently been fully vetted and spayed, and while she can be a bit nervous in new situations, she continues to show just how resilient and trusting she truly is. Give her a little time—and maybe a treat or two—and her warm, affectionate personality shines through.

Rachel loves the simple joys in life:
Bird watching (seriously, she could do it all day)
Chewing on her favorite toys and bones
Exploring outside and soaking up fresh air
And then promptly napping after a good adventure

She's house trained, does great in her crate overnight, and is settling nicely into a routine. Rachel has done well meeting other dogs and is currently learning how to be friends with a cat—she's making steady progress! She also enjoys meeting new people, especially when she's given a little space to warm up at her own pace.

Like many dogs who've had to fend for themselves, Rachel is still learning that food will always be there—so countertops aren't quite safe yet—but she's already making great strides as she adjusts to the comfort and consistency of home life.

Through it all, Rachel's tail is wagging, and her heart is open. Her past doesn't define her—it's only made her stronger, sweeter, and even more deserving of a loving forever home.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will watch the birds with you, curl up after a long day, and remind you daily how special second chances are—Rachel is your girl.
