Meet Quin
Quin is our 6.5-year-old, Black Lab/Pit Bull Terrier Mix that was adopted from our Humane Society in May 2014, but unfortunately had to be returned because her adopter was moving out of the area and could not keep her. She has gone home with a few other people since then but each time came back after only a few weeks because she couldn't handle being introduced to so many friends and family members before she had even settled into her new home. Quin needs a very special person who will be extremely patient with her and give her lots of love, especially when introducing her to new people and new experiences.
Quin loves to run and play outside and enjoys going for hikes and playing fetch with her tennis ball. She also LOVES to go swimming and has also been on canoe trips. She knows commands including sit, lay down, wait, stay, drop, crawl, sit pretty, army crawl, and was also learning to spin around in her previous home. She is housebroken, crate-trained, and leash trained.
Sadly, as a young puppy, Quin was isolated to a bedroom by her owners, so she did not get to meet many people or go outdoors for walks. Her first real-life experiences happened after she was surrendered to our shelter when she was 5-6 months old. She loves the shelter staff and people that she has met, but will need time to adjust to a new environment and experiences. Quin will need a quiet home environment, without a lot of commotion, as she is shy and needs time to adjust to new people. She barks at strangers, but once she gets to know someone and feels she can trust them, she becomes their best friend. Quin does not like cats, children, and most other dogs and will need an experienced dog owner and a house with a fenced yard.
If you are interested in finding out more about Quin, please contact our office or stop by and ask to meet her in person. She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccinations and heartworm/lyme tested negative. She is a healthy and active young dog that would love to be able to go home with someone soon!
If you are interested in adopting this lovable girl, please start by filling out an adoption application that can be found on our website at trilakeshumanesociety.org or give us a call at 518-891-0017 if you would like a hard copy mailed to you. Once we have an approved adoption application we can set up an appointment for you to come in and meet Quin and spend some time with her. Please know that multiple visits are important to build trust with Quin and to become one of "her people".
