Meet Py! This handsome 1 year old, 50lb Boxer mix is basically a walking, wiggling ray of sunshine. Py has NEVER met a stranger and greets everyone he meets with the kind of pure joy that makes you smile right back. He is happy, social, affectionate, and just an all-around great boy!<br/><br/>Py is a smart guy who picks up on things quickly, especially when you take the time to show him what you want. He does best with structure and consistency, but he is also a soft-hearted boy who responds best to a gentle approach. Loud voices can make him nervous, so Py’s ideal person will be patient, positive, and willing to help him build confidence while continuing his training.<br/><br/>And when we say well-rounded, we mean it! Py is just as happy playing outside, working on training, or romping around with his dog friends as he is curling up beside you on the couch. He is very dog social and LOVES to play. He is also house trained and crate trained, which means he already has some great life skills under his belt!<br/><br/>As for cats, we would describe Py as curious. He will watch them in his foster home and has playfully barked at them, but we have not seen him chase them or show aggression. Because he is young and playful, a cat-savvy home and appropriate introductions would be important.<br/><br/>Py is the kind of dog who can keep up when you’re ready for an adventure, then happily crash on the couch when the day is done. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt <br/><br/>Adoption process:<br/>Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.<br/><br/>From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.<br/><br/>Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
