Pugberto's Story

*Pugberto is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm and is doing well in our care. While he isn't quite ready to head home just yet, we wanted to introduce him to everyone and give him a chance to start finding his forever family! Once he has completed his heartworm treatment and is cleared by our veterinary team he'll be ready to go home. In the meantime, you can follow along with his journey and get to know this special boy!*

Pugberto is a big boy with an even bigger heart! At 9 years old and 33 pounds, he's not exactly what you'd call a pocket-sized Pug. In fact, he is approximately the size of two regular Pugs standing next to each other, which we feel is a pretty efficient way to get twice the Pug.

This handsome apricot-colored boy was originally found as a stray. Thankfully whatever happened before he got here he isn't dwelling on it. He's much more interested in what comes next. And what he wants next is pretty simple: people.

Pugberto is wonderfully social and friendly with humans of all ages. He's a gentle, easygoing guy who tends to hang back and take things in, but once he decides you're safe, that's it. You've got yourself a new best buddy.

He's also good with other dogs and has a pretty relaxed demeanor overall. He's not the kind of dog who's going to bounce off the walls all day. He's perfectly happy taking things at his own pace, hanging out with his people, and enjoying the good life.

But really, his favorite thing seems to be being loved. There's something very sweet about watching him realize he's safe. Pugberto is eager for affection and more than happy to give it right back. He's a gentle giant in every sense of the word. Big, squishy, ridiculously cute, and completely convinced that being someone's beloved dog is exactly what he was meant to do.

Pugberto is ready to leave the stray life behind for good. He doesn't need anything fancy. He just needs a family who will give him a safe place to settle in, plenty of love, and the chance to finally be someone's big handsome boy.
