Princess (Adopted - PU 1/13/26)'s Story
Meet Princess -- a cautious little royal who's learning that the world (and humans) can be pretty wonderful. 👑🐾

Princess came to the shelter as an owner surrender because her previous family didn't have enough time. They reported that she's housetrained, loves car rides, and has done well with kids and other dogs (no known history with cats).

When Princess first arrived, she was scared and unsure. She barked and growled to create space, moved away from people, and needed a gentle, steady handler to help her feel safe. Underneath that "back off" voice was a dog saying, "I don't know you yet."

And now? She's starting to trust.

With time, Princess warms up in a really sweet way. She may approach with a low body and ears back at first, but give her a few minutes and she'll start coming when called, staying close for full-body pets, and taking treats gently from your hand. In the dog park with volunteers, she went from hesitant and cautious to bouncy, excited, and affectionate--approaching for snacks, hanging out nearby, and allowing volunteers to leash her up calmly.

What Princess needs to thrive:
✨ A patient home that understands the "slow intro, big love" kind of dog
✨ Calm, confident humans who let her choose the pace
✨ Positive reinforcement (treats are her love language)
✨ Consistent routines and gentle encouragement

Fun notes:

She's got a playful side and can get excited around dog friends (she may pull on leash at first because she wants to play).

Once she settles in, you'll see her loose body, neutral wag, and sweet, social personality shine.

Princess isn't looking for perfection -- she's looking for someone kind, someone who will give her a minute, speak softly, and let her realize she's safe. If you've got a comfy couch, a pocket full of treats, and a heart for a shy girl who blossoms... Princess is ready to rule your heart. 👑💛
