Princess's Story
Meet Princess, a sweet dumpling of a lady who is looking for a quiet home where she can be pampered. Princess is a total people-dog and loves engaging with humans. Based on her good manners and pleasantly plump shape, we suspect Princess was somebody's princess before and is very much missing home life.

Princess has been staying full-time as an office dog at kennel, and she makes a easy, quiet, sweet assistant. She is sweet and affectionate with people coming and going, and loves leaning in or flopping over for belly rubs and butt scratches. She is gently curious about what you're doing whether she can get a few pets (or snacks) out of it. If you're busy, she settles down onto a comfy bed to hang out. She is housebroken, great in the crate (goes in easily, sometimes chooses to go in and hang out on her own), and hasn't gotten into anything she shouldn't. She also knows how to sit and takes her treats gently.

Overall Princess is a pretty chill gal, but she does have a peppy, spunky side. For a potato, she can bust a move in the yard when she gets excited about a favorite toy. Stuffies, beware! Princess also enjoys going for strolls and can pull occasionally for things she's curious about, but much of the time settles into an easy-going pace. Princess would probably enjoy the chance to be the only dog and soaking up all the attention for herself. She was gentle socializing with other dogs in play group and might do fine living with another lower-key dog, but she does not enjoy rowdy behavior. She is more content being able to bop around and do her own thing. She also is looking for a home without cats or other small animals.

Princess is looking for a calm, loving home where she can get back to being a couch potato. With some soft places to lay and some attention, she's content. She is estimated to be around 5 years old and weighs 64 lbs. You must schedule a meet with a dog in advance - we are not currently accepting walk-ins. Please look online first to see if there are any dogs you think would be a good fit for your home before scheduling a meet. To get the process started, visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog and fill out the form. One of our adoption counselors will get in touch to schedule and confirm your meet! At the kennel, an adoption counselor will introduce you and your family to the adoptable dogs, share information we know about them, and discuss our suggested ways for successfully integrating a new dog into your home. You are welcome to meet multiple dogs. If the dog you adopt is already fixed, he or she may leave with you that day - otherwise, the dog can go home after receiving the spay or neuter surgery.)

About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through a behavioral and medical assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. We cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog once they are in the home. Most of our dogs are picked up as strays, so we do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if most of them are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. We do have some dogs in foster homes, where they will have more information about how the dog is in a home environment. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption.

Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within two weeks of leaving the kennel. All dogs receive their DAPPL, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccines, though you may be required to get follow up boosters. All dogs come microchipped and with a Cuyahoga County license.
