Pretzel's Story

Meet Pretzel! Wondering the story behind her name? Well, she was quite literally found with a pretzel jar stuck on her head. She survived this way for days before being captured by animal control.

Given the trauma she endured, she is a very cautious dog. Everything she does, she approaches it slowly. She lacks confidence and desperately needs a family to help her blossom.

During her time at the shelter, we've learned she is not very dog friendly. We think she sees other dogs as a threat. She'd be much more content in a home without other dogs. She is, however, cat friendly! She seems to be nervous with small children around but doesn't mind older kiddos and adults.

If you have lots of love and patience to spare, consider fostering or adopting Pretzel.

Apply online at fayettecountyanimalshelterwv.com or come by the shelter! 513 Shelter Road, Fayetteville, WV 25840.

Fayette County Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
Those interested in adoption have the option to visit us in person or to view our animals online. Once the potential finds an animal that interests them, whether after meeting in person or online, they will complete an adoption application. The adoption application is then screened by one of our adoption counselors. If approved, we will coordinate an appointment for adoption (usually same day). If not approved, we will work with the applicant to see if there is anything we can do to assist in getting them approved before turning them away. Adopters will pay a set adoption fee. In return, they will adopt their new furry friend and will go home with medical records, a copy of the adoption contract, an adoption packet, and our contact info should they ever need anything.
