Poupoune, TOTALLY ADORABLE!'s Story

Poupoune is approximately 5 years old and weighs 7.5 pounds. This adorable love bundle was rescued from a northern Quebec pound where her breeder owner dropped her off to be euthanized. Sadly, Poupoune had no value as far as her breeder was concerned because the little beauty was born handicapped: the lower part of her 4 legs, from the knee joint down to her paws, is non functional . As a result, courageous little Poupoune makes the best of it and walks on her front and back knees. She is surprisingly mobile and so determined to live her life fully in spite of the hardship she was dealt. Poupoune was adopted from the pound by a kind senior and was well cared for until her adopter eventually had to move to a long term care facility. Sadly, once again, Poupoune found herself at the pound.

Poupoune is a happy, quiet, very smart and undemanding little dog. She is a healthy little gal who loves to be cuddled and loved on. She is housebroken and will let out one bark to alert of her need to relieve herself. She also “talks” to advise that she is hungry! She is not a barker and is quiet otherwise. She is well behaved and very well socialized with other pets as her adopter had quite a menagerie consisting of 2 other small dogs, 2 cats, a rabbit and birds. While taken for a vet check up, it was discovered that her upper jaw was broken quite a while ago. Luckily it does not seem to cause her any pain or discomfort when she eats: she has a very healthy appetite. Her coat is very dense and requires regular grooming and clipping.

Poupoune will do well in a quiet home with special dog lovers who are accepting of the unusual way she walks around and the subsequent limitations. All she needs is love and she will give it back ten folds.
