Potter's Story
Meet Potter
Potter is a 7-month-old mixed breed puppy who is just beginning to experience the world around him. Potter may be a bit shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and seeks comfort from trusted humans. Once he feels safe, his true personality shines. Potter is affectionate, energetic, and playful, and he genuinely enjoys being around people once he gets to know them. He loves attention and is happiest when he’s close to his humans, soaking up affection and praise. Potter came to us from a situation where he wasn’t exposed to a lot, so many everyday sights and sounds are still unfamiliar to him. Things like walks, cars, and loud noises can feel overwhelming at first, and he’s learning how to build confidence in new environments.

Training & Socialization
Potter will need basic puppy training, including potty training and learning everyday manners. He will also benefit greatly from continued, positive socialization to help him become more comfortable with new sights, sounds, and experiences over time.
He is making a lot of progress so far and is very food motivated and eager to learn, making him highly receptive to reward-based training. Training sessions that focus on building trust, confidence, and positive associations with the world around him will help Potter feel secure and successful.

Ideal Home
Potter would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with owners who can dedicate time to help him learn. He is not suited for a home with children. Potter might benefit from a confident dog in his new household but we will learn more as he meets other dogs at the shelter. A patient adopter who understands shy or under-socialized dogs and is willing to go at Potter’s pace will be rewarded with a deeply loving, affectionate, and playful companion.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ready to Apply?

If you would like to meet Potter, please download an application from our website at:

vancouver.ca/adoption-form

Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca

If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes.
Children: No
Cats: Maybe
Dogs: No
Training Needs: Puppy Training and Socialization
Adoption Fee: $391

If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence.

For more information on our adoption process, go to vancouver.ca/adopt
