Possum's Story

Meet Possum 🐾
Possum is a sweet, sensitive boy with a gentle heart who is slowly learning that the world can be a safe place. At around 40 pounds, this shy guy may start off cautious, but once he trusts you, he becomes a loyal little shadow who loves being near his person.
When Possum first arrived, he was so nervous that even looking at him would send him running back to his kennel. But with patience and kindness, he’s made wonderful progress. Now he follows his foster around the house, enjoys relaxing nearby, and has discovered that couch cuddles are pretty great.
Possum is incredibly intelligent and observant, and as he becomes more comfortable, his goofy personality is starting to shine through. Watching him grow more confident each day has been incredibly rewarding.
He is potty trained and doing well with routines, but still needs time and patience as he continues building confidence. The outside world used to feel very scary to him, but with encouragement he’s learning that the yard can be a fun and safe place to explore.
Possum can feel unsure around other dogs right now and may see them as a threat, so slow introductions and thoughtful management will be important. He also guards his food, which is understandable for a dog who hasn’t always felt secure about resources.
This gentle boy would do best with a patient adopter who understands shy or anxious dogs and is willing to give him the time he needs to fully relax and trust. In return, Possum offers deep loyalty, snuggly companionship, and the joy of watching a timid dog blossom.
He may not know many commands yet, but Possum is smart and eager to learn once he feels safe.
If you have a calm home and a kind heart for a dog who just needs someone in his corner, Possum could be your perfect companion. 🐾
