Evil Chihuahua enthusiasts, prepare to fall in love/hate with our latest specimen. <br/><br/>Meet Popsicle. He can go from sickeningly sweet to ice-cream-headache level frosty in seconds. He was one of several animals living in a home with someone who couldnt care for them. None of them were socialized and he was particularly ungrateful to his rescuers, the vets that shaved mats/neutered/removed his painful infected teeth, and pretty much everyone he met along the way. He has a deceptively sweet side and comes up wagging his tail asking for pets or to be picked up. But do not take his seeming eagerness to do those things as a free all day pass- he will let you know when cuddle time is over or he needs some space or alone time. Just because he consented 2 minutes ago when you picked him up, doesnt mean hes not going to decide hes done with you when hes had enough. <br/><br/>The good news is hes very tiny (chunky at 8lbs), doesnt have a ton of teeth left after his dental (just 2 top canines and a handful of molars in the back, so unless you jam your hand in there like you are using a hole puncher hes not doing a lot of damage other than some hurt feelings), and just cute enough to get away with his antics. Hes ok with most other dogs- just ok, he has his snarky moments with them as well, prefers to dine alone and will stand up for himself if they get in his face. No one should be getting in his face of any species for that matter, he will come let you know when hes in the mood to interact and then retreat to his man cave to he left alone when he needs to reset. He looks to be a long hair chi, maybe with some Pom or papillon mixed in. The brain is all chihuahua though for sure! Hes about 10 years old, has now finally been neutered to prevent him from creating more of him (he already has unfortunately- we are told Bubba was his son but luckily his personality seems to take more after his mom we have to assume because hes very sweet), updated on shots especially rabies , and is ready for a home that will enjoy him, quirks and all, and just let him be himself and live his best evil Chihuahua life. <br/><br/>Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Popsicle in Northern NJ at your own risk <br/><br/>Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
