She was found as a stray living under a shed and she forgot her birth certificate so we aren’t sure of her exact age.<br/>*WEIGHT: 30 lbs.<br/><br/>*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required. Poppy loves the freedom that she has to run around as much as she wants in the foster’s fenced back yard. Her recall isnt great yet so we think she does need a fenced yard for her future success. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success. She can scale the chain link fence to chase squirrels so she will need to be watched in her new home if there is any way for her to get out of the fence.<br/><br/>*COAT TYPE: Soft curly/wavy, lower-shedding coat. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often to prevent matting and have her groomed regularly with an estimated cost of $120/groom.<br/><br/>*ENERGY LEVEL: She loves to run in the yard and chase the squirrels. She will chase a ball and bring it back until she gets distracted. She would enjoy daily walks and/or be able to run in the yard often.<br/> <br/>*DOGS: Yes! She has loved all dogs she has been around. The foster home has 4 dogs and she does well with them. She would enjoy having another dog in her forever home and would likely be OK as a solo dog if her family gives her lots of love and attention and engagement.<br/><br/>*CATS: she has had no exposure to cats in her foster home but we think she may be OK with them.<br/><br/>*KIDS: she has had no exposure to kids in her foster home but we think she would probably love having kids around.<br/><br/>*CAR: Good in the car. She will hop right in and sit in the back seat without any problem!<br/> <br/>*CRATE: She is fine in a crate for a short period. She doesn’t love the crate. She is left out of the crate at her foster home and will cry when you first walk out the door but then quickly settles down on the couch and chills.<br/> <br/>*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes. She has been in my home for about a month with no accidents whatsoever!<br/> <br/>*LEASH: Good on a leash<br/> <br/>*AT THE VET: She is fine at the vet. Wants to meet everyone!<br/> <br/>* WITH GROOMING: Excellent with grooming. She was very matted to the skin and had to endure about 6 hours of grooming in her initial visit and did not complain one time.<br/><br/>*VETTING: Poppy is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and house-trained. Her fecal and heartworm tests were negative and she is on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives.<br/><br/>MORE ABOUT POPPY:<br/><br/>Poppy is a SUPER sweet girl who is approximately 6 years old and weighs 30 lbs. She was found a stray in the country so we are guessing she is likely a Doodle although since she forgot her birth certificate we can’t say for sure. Her foster mom says: This is probably the sweetest dog I have ever met. She has a very soft mouth when taking things from you. She will settle on the couch with you when you are watching television, but she is not a Velcro dog. She is perfectly content to lay in another room and chill. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses.
