She was found as a stray living under a shed and she forgot her birth certificate so we aren’t sure of her exact age.
*WEIGHT: 30 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required. Poppy loves the freedom that she has to run around as much as she wants in the foster’s fenced back yard. Her recall isnt great yet so we think she does need a fenced yard for her future success. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success. She can scale the chain link fence to chase squirrels so she will need to be watched in her new home if there is any way for her to get out of the fence.

*COAT TYPE: Soft curly/wavy, lower-shedding coat. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often to prevent matting and have her groomed regularly with an estimated cost of $120/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: She loves to run in the yard and chase the squirrels. She will chase a ball and bring it back until she gets distracted. She would enjoy daily walks and/or be able to run in the yard often.

*DOGS: Yes! She has loved all dogs she has been around. The foster home has 4 dogs and she does well with them. She would enjoy having another dog in her forever home and would likely be OK as a solo dog if her family gives her lots of love and attention and engagement.

*CATS: she has had no exposure to cats in her foster home but we think she may be OK with them.

*KIDS: she has had no exposure to kids in her foster home but we think she would probably love having kids around.

*CAR: Good in the car. She will hop right in and sit in the back seat without any problem!

*CRATE: She is fine in a crate for a short period. She doesn’t love the crate. She is left out of the crate at her foster home and will cry when you first walk out the door but then quickly settles down on the couch and chills.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes. She has been in my home for about a month with no accidents whatsoever!

*LEASH: Good on a leash

*AT THE VET: She is fine at the vet. Wants to meet everyone!

* WITH GROOMING: Excellent with grooming. She was very matted to the skin and had to endure about 6 hours of grooming in her initial visit and did not complain one time.

*VETTING: Poppy is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and house-trained. Her fecal and heartworm tests were negative and she is on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives.

MORE ABOUT POPPY:

Poppy is a SUPER sweet girl who is approximately 6 years old and weighs 30 lbs. She was found a stray in the country so we are guessing she is likely a Doodle although since she forgot her birth certificate we can’t say for sure. Her foster mom says: This is probably the sweetest dog I have ever met. She has a very soft mouth when taking things from you. She will settle on the couch with you when you are watching television, but she is not a Velcro dog. She is perfectly content to lay in another room and chill. She sleeps all night in a bed beside our bed with no problem at all.

Adjectives that describe Poppy:
**Sweet
**Calm
**Gentle
**Playful
**Confident
**Snuggly
**Submissive
**Affectionate

Activities that she enjoys:
+Fetch
+Running in the back yard
+Chasing squirrels
+Walking
+Chew toys
+Squeaky toys
+Cuddling
+Meeting new people
+Playing with other dogs

There is simply nothing negative about this dog except she is an escape artist. However, when she manages to get out, she never goes far and will bring herself back.

ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Poppy’s listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.

*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Poppy, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Poppy, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Poppy before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

ADOPTION FEE: $495

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR POPPY-ARKANSAS, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
