Poppy's Story

Adoptable dog alert, meet Poppy! She's a Shih Tzu with a black and white cookie colored coat. She's around 3 years old and just shy of 10 lbs. She's spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines and monthly prevention. She's one of the GA breeder dogs, she's vision limited and is missing an eye, her intact eye has a cataract.

About Poppy:
- Dog, cat, and kid friendly
- Former pirate, actual princess
- Fenced yard preferred

Poppy the pirate princess recently decided to fully focus on her princess duties. She may have lost an eye in her previous pirate-y life but it doesn't slow her down in the slightest. She loves people, including her 5 and 7 year old human siblings, and snuggling. She's becoming one of the cutest couch potatoes you've ever seen; and recently discovered that the best place to nap is on your lap!

Poppy is working on house, potty, and leash training. Given her background and vision limitations, she still has some accidents in the house but she's making great progress. She'd benefit from a fenced yard but its not a requirement.

Poppy likes other small dogs and cats, she recently started showing interest in playing with her doggie sibling. She likes having friends around, though she prefers people.

Princess Poppy is ready for her fur-ever family. She's rated for small dogs, cats, and respectful kids (5+). She needs patient and loving adopters who understand her background and recognize that she'll need time and encouragement to acclimate to her new home. She'd do best with people who are around more often than not, especially if she's going to be an only dog. Fawn's Small Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
If you are interested adopting please fill out our adoption application. Potential adopters must be 21 years or older. Adoption donations range from $175 to $500 and are based on the individual dogs and their age, needs, and medical expenses (paid out while in our care). ALL adoption donation fees go to our foster dogs and their veterinary care and needs. This empowers us to continue saving lives. Fawn's does a veterinarian and reference check. Your application will be denied if the animals you own are not properly vaccinated, neutered and spayed, and up to date on their heartworm and other preventative medications. We do our best to select the family and home that we feel is ideal based on the unique needs of each dog. Our adoption process includes a Home Visit which we complete as a part of the Meet and Greet. At the end of the Meet and Greet, those who pass the Home Visit have the opportunity to sign the adoption contract and begin their 7-day pre-adoption trial. This is to ensure that you have found the right fit for your family. Review our adoption process: https://www.fawnssmalldogrescue.org/adoption-process
