Poppy's Story

INTRO

Meet Poppy, a sweet, quiet little girl who has a softer, more independent personality than some of her siblings. She isn't always the first puppy to seek out the action, but give her the right moment and a cozy place to settle, and she'll happily show you her cuddly side.

HISTORY

Poppy and her six siblings came to HART when they were just two weeks old. Their mama was surrendered with them, and she will be returning to her original owner after being sterilized, brought up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.

Poppy was born on 07/10/2026 and has been raised in a foster home where she has had plenty of opportunity to grow, learn, and experience what it means to be part of a family.

Poppy is located in Kennewick, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. She is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet her before you decide she should join your family!

SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING

Poppy is calm and quiet, with a slightly more independent personality than some of her siblings. She isn't quite as interested in people as the other puppies and doesn't necessarily need to be involved in everything happening around her.

But don't mistake her independence for a lack of affection! When the setting is right and she feels comfortable, Poppy is happy to settle in for some quality snuggle time.

Poppy is fostered with twin toddlers and other dogs, giving her experience living alongside both children and canine companions. She and her siblings are working hard on crate training, potty training, and learning how to become well-rounded family dogs.

As she grows, Poppy will benefit from a family who allows her to build relationships at her own pace while continuing to encourage confidence and positive experiences. Puppy classes and positive-reinforcement training will help her develop into the best version of herself.

It's important to remember: Poppy is a PUPPY, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! She has sharp nails, needle teeth, boundless curiosity, and an impressive ability to find things she probably shouldn't have. She will have accidents, chew things, pounce on your shoes, and generally keep you on your toes. Please don't apply to adopt Poppy unless you're prepared for the time, patience, energy, and commitment required to raise a puppy right!

HEALTH STATUS

Poppy has received two puppy vaccinations, four rounds of deworming, and has been microchipped. She appears to be in good health.

Poppy will be sterilized as part of her HART adoption. Additional veterinary care, including ongoing vaccinations and routine puppy care, will be the responsibility of her adopter.

ADOPTION

The adoption fee for Poppy is $425.

To apply to adopt Poppy, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-193, or email HearthfireART@gmail.com and request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
