Poppy's Story

Meet Poppy
Poppys journey started far from Ohioshe came to Canine Collective all the way from the Bahamas, where dogs like her are known as Potcakes, a resilient and intelligent island mixed breed. She even arrived with a handwritten note from a child asking that she be taken care of because shes a good girl.
Poppy is about 18 months old and weighs 43 lbsa great medium size with a sleek coat and expressive eyes. She keeps her crate clean and walks nicely on leash, and she absolutely loves a good chew like a rawhide.
Now for the most important partwho Poppy really is right now.
Poppy is not the kind of dog who will greet new people with tail wags and kisses. In the kennel environment, she is cautious and unsure, and she has only formed trust with a small circle of familiar people. She needs timesometimes a good amount of itto feel safe and comfortable.
Because of this, Poppy will need: An adult-only home (no young children); To be the only pet in the home; An adopter who understands shy or under-socialized dogs and is willing to go slow
The right person for Poppy is someone patient and experienced who doesnt expect instant connectionbut instead is willing to earn it. The reward? Once she trusts you, youll have a deeply loyal companion who bonds closely with her person.
Poppy may not be for everyonebut for the right home, she has the potential to be something really special.
If you think you could be that person, apply at www.caninecollective.org
