Poppy's Story

👑 The Princess Requires Your Attention! (Meet Poppy!)

Hi! I’m Poppy, and I am a 1-2 year old happy, active, and deeply affectionate girl who is ready to be the absolute center of your universe! 💖 If you are looking for a princess who loves belly rubs, intense snuggle sessions, and a very precise daily schedule, we are going to be best friends.

My foster family helps me manage a very strict, highly professional puppy calendar. My perfect day consists of frequent trips outside, cozy crate time, fun mental enrichment games, active play sessions, a few delicious meals, and—most importantly—exactly two treats right before bed. No exceptions, please! 🍪🍪

Here are a few quick facts about me to see if we match:
- I must be your one-and-only. Who needs other dogs when you have me? I get super excited when I see other pups out on walks from a distance (sometimes a little too excited), but I want to keep all of your attention, treats, and love completely to myself. I strictly require being the only dog in the castle! 🥇
- I have a fascination with birds and squirrels when I am outside. I would highly prefer a safely fenced-in yard where I can roam, explore, and chase critters safely. 🐦🐿️
- Cats are okay, with time. I can do well with dog-savvy cats, but I think they should be my playtime partners! It will definitely take a slow adjustment period for us to figure out each other's boundaries.
- I am a total velcro dog. I always like to know exactly where my people are at all times, and I might cry if you leave my sight. Because of my princess personality and occasional vocalizations, I am not suitable for apartment living at this time.
- I am a crate-training rockstar. I settle down very quickly and do great in my crate for up to 8 hours!
- I am your best welcome-home committee. I absolutely adore my humans. Whether you leave for five minutes or a few hours, I will greet you with the most explosive, affectionate welcome-home party you’ve ever seen! 🥳

I am a very smart girl who is house trained and learning my manners daily. (Apparently, you aren't supposed to look on the counters or chew on the humans' slippers? Who knew!). I require regular mental stimulation and puzzle toys to channel my energy constructively and keep me from getting bored.

I would thrive with a dedicated forever family that can offer me consistency, training, lots of love, and a home where I can be the solo spotlight queen.

It Takes A Village Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
Hopeful adopters must fill out an adoption application. All applications are screened and potential matches are contacted. Follow up questions are emailed. A phone call is set up to clarify any questions about the adoption process. At that point the fosters are provided the contact information for the potential adopters. They set up a meet and greet at the fosters home. During the meet the foster will tell the potential adopter the good, the bad. and the ugly about the dog... we want total transparency in order to have an open and successful adoption. After the meet we ask the fosters and the adopters their thoughts. If the adopter would like to proceed, their references are checked and a virtual home visit is conducted. If the adoptable dog has any sort of behavioural or medical issues a plan to address the issue would be required before adoption could proceed. If all is good then the adoption contract is sent out to be signed and returned along with the adoption fee. The foster is given the green light to arrange pick up.
