Pop Rocks's Story

Pop Rocks was so happy to get TWO weekend breaks from the shelter with a volunteer foster and her dog. Her foster wrote a kinda perfect summary of this sweet, earnest girl. So, we're going to let her foster take it from here:

Pop Rocks (aka Poppy) is a real firecracker disguised as a docile little mouse. She's very skittish at first, and she enjoys hiding out in little cave-like spaces to feel safe. Once she's warmed up to someone, she turns into a cuddly lap dog.

Pop Rocks will do very well in a home with another dog. She took her cues from my dog, and walking alongside another dog helped her with her anxiety and discomfort wearing a harness on walks.

Pop Rocks also loooves to play. She's definitely still a puppy, and I have many videos of her playing rough with my dog. She will thrive with a family that will take her on long walks and throw toys for her for hours.

She's not 100% house trained yet, but she's well on her way to becoming a perfect family dog. She will need a family that can dedicate the time to training her and helping build her confidence. She's also very mischievous. I caught her climbing on the coffee table and digging in the trash on multiple occasions this week.

Pop Rocks loves:

Chewing up fluffy toys
Stealing socks
Having a dog companion
Belly rubs

Pop Rocks does not enjoy:

Loud noises
Unfamiliar men
Being brushed or getting a bath.

Pop Rocks will likely feel most comfortable with an adopter who has another friendly dog. Dogs give her a feeling of comfort, and she just lights up when she has the chance to plays with another dog.
