Pony's Story
At just 8 pounds, Pony may be tiny, but this little Chihuahua mix has a whole lot of personality packed into that tiny body.

Pony is estimated to be 8–10 years old and came to Jasper's Legacy from a heartbreaking hoarding case involving more than 40 Chihuahuas. After spending her life in a chaotic environment, Pony has learned that life can be quiet, cozy, and safe. She is absolutely loving it.

Pony gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would be happy to have canine companions in her forever home. Her favorite activities are pretty simple: finding the coziest possible spot, curling up for a good nap, and soaking up the comforts she never had before. At her foster home, you can almost always find her perched on the back of the couch, enjoying her favorite little lookout spot.

Pony does best in a calm, predictable environment. She isn't a fan of chaos or men, so we're looking for a woman-only home where she can continue to feel safe and comfortable. Because the energy and unpredictability of children can be overwhelming for a dog this tiny, Pony is not a candidate for a home with children.

She is crate trained and, while she doesn't necessarily need to be crated all the time, her crate is her safe space and she absolutely loves burrowing into her blankets and cozying up inside. She may have an occasional accident in the house if she isn't crated, so her forever family will need to be understanding and willing to continue working with her.

Pony has come such a long way since leaving that hoarding situation. She has settled beautifully into her foster home and is finally ready for the next chapter: a quiet forever home where she can spend her golden years feeling safe, loved, and very, very spoiled.

If you're looking for a tiny companion who would happily spend her days napping on the couch, burrowing under blankets, and enjoying the simple comforts of home, Pony might just be your girl.

************************************
Pony is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt

Adoption process:
Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.

From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.

Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
