Poncho's Story
Meet Poncho, a 1.5-year-old neutered male Chihuahua mix weighing in at 22 lbs who is currently chilling in his foster home in Pennsylvania and officially ready for his forever home. If you ask the transport team who brought him up, they’ll all tell you the same thing: letting him go was the hardest part of the trip. After a rough start in life coming from a cruelty case, Poncho didn't let any of it dim his bright spirit. His before-and-after pictures tell a story of resilience, but his actual personality is what truly steals the show.
Poncho hasn't met a stranger yet. He is completely unfazed by loud noises, crying newborns, and rambunctious toddlers—in fact, he loves kids just about as much as he loves exploring. He is also obsessed with cats, loving them so much he’ll try to shower them with affection, though he’s a respectful gentleman who listens and backs off when a cat sets a boundary.
When it comes to other dogs, he gets along wonderfully. He has hung out at doggy daycare multiple times and fits right in with the pack. He has zero food-resource guarding issues either, happily eating in his crate while other dogs walk right by without a care in the world.
Poncho has a wonderful, moderate energy level. He loves using his sniffer to explore the yard on walks, but at the end of the day, his absolute favorite place is right next to you. Whether you're curled up with a good book or heading to sleep for the night, Poncho is more than happy to claim a spot in your bed as your personal companion.
