Polly's Story
Say hello to Polly!

This little girl about two years old and is a slight 60 pounds. Polly has curly hair and the vet said she is a Labradoodle.

Polly is house trained, crate trained and does well on a leash. At night Polly will either sleep in her crate or on a dog bed outside of her crate. She can be left alone uncrated but only in a dog-proofed area of the house.

Polly is good with people and other dogs. She has not been around cats. Polly was fostered with seven other dogs, of all sizes and temperaments and she did fine.

We suspect she may have a history of abuse and neglect and she is still learning that people are ok. Similarly, she is still figuring out that food and toys will not be taken away from her. She can be a little grumbly if another dog tries to take her toy or approaches her food bowl while she is eating. While Polly is learning quickly that life is ok now, she would do best with another passive, mellow dog to play with rather than a more assertive playmate. In addition, a home with older children who are dog savvy would be best for Polly.

Polly’s energy level is on the low to medium side. She loves anything WATER and will spend hours playing by herself in the sprinklers. She loves to chase a hose, loves to swim, and loves to lounge in the water in her foster’s pool. Polly loves to be outside, but she loves to be inside just as much or more laying on her bed and being close to you.

Polly doesn’t chew on anything except her Benebones. She hasn’t chewed anything in her foster home or outside, she doesn’t chew her bed or blankets. Polly does gets really excited when it’s time to eat; she runs around in circles and barks while waiting. Polly doesn’t really jump on people. She does enjoy digging and chasing squirrels and birds. Polly gets excited and will bark when she is on a leash and sees another dog. She will need continued positive reinforcement training to help her adjust to her new life.

Polly is looking for a family who will show her that people can be kind, that life can be full of fun adventures and that she can live her best dog life!

Polly is available for adoption in RI on, or after, TBD

If you are interested in Polly and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Polly’s list.
