POLLY's Story

POLLY

www.youluckydogrescue.org - Adoption Application can be found on this website.

*House-trained
*Crate-trained
*Playful, social, loves other dogs and people
*Learning to walk well on leash

Polly is estimated to be 1 year old and is 36 lbs.

This little 1-year-old pup was at the shelter since early January 2026, when she found herself to be the oldest resident and the next on the dreaded list, due to an influx of dogs entering the shelter. This was not going to happen, due to the quick thinking of a YLDR volunteer who was already picking up another foster dog that morning. Polly (formerly Pringle) was scooped up and saved on 5/15/26! It took a team of volunteers to save her at You Lucky Dog Rescue and Henry County Animal Shelter.

Polly happily lives in a foster home that includes her foster mom and dad, 5 dogs (males and females), and 1 cat. She is quickly learning all of the important routines of eating, sleeping, outdoor zooming, and running errands in the car. Polly follows the lead of the other dogs in the house and is learning to go to her bed with the command, “place,” when it is time to rest with her family. She is quiet and non-destructive with bedding in her crate when her foster family leaves the house.

Mealtime is one of Polly’s favorite activities! She is learning the “sit-stay-ok” command for waiting for breakfast and dinner, and she doesn’t eat quickly. She does not have any food aggression and gently accepts all treats, like bones or gourmet treats, from her foster parents.

Polly loves to get her energy out in the backyard by zooming by herself or with another dog. She will sometimes chase a tennis ball or sit on the steps to just soak in the sun. Polly does best with daily multiple opportunities to zoom and/or go for a walk since she is so young and full of energy. She is highly trainable and eager to please. Polly is so trusting and loving--you will be gifted with gentle kisses and happy wiggles from her every day.

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
