Polaris's Story

This big handsome fella is Polaris! He is looking for a home. His previous owners and his foster both rave about him being the sweetest boy. He loves walks and is a big adventurer. He also is a bit prey driven and has a knack for spotting squirrels from miles away.

Polaris came to the shelter through no fault of his own. His previous owners desperately wanted to keep him, but they were experiencing some significant health issues and knew it wasn't feasible nor fair to Polaris.

Polaris is very friendly, to the point of being a tad over-zealous. But who wouldn't be if you LOVE people and only get to see them a few times a day. He is a bit jumpy (and excitable) currently, but that is likely due to being frequently kenneled. This can also be fixed with training and plenty of exercise. He just needs to have his needs met.

Polaris loves people but may be too boisterous for smaller children. We think sturdier kids/teens and older would be more suited for him. A larger, similarly sized dog might be a match (pending a dog meeting here at the shelter), but he'd be too much dog for a small (<45 lb.) dog. Polaris is too prey driven for cats.

Polaris is so deserving of a good home. Are you the one that could bring a happy ending to this story? Polaris is looking to start the next chapter of his life. If you're interested in our special boy, please call the shelter at (603) 472-3647 and press 1 to schedule an appointment.

Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire's Adoption Policy
All adoptions are done on an appointment only basis, for specific animals. No animals have multiple families visiting them at one time, this wouldn't be fair to them or for you. Because of this, we do not book out appointment more than 24-48 hours in advance. We are CLOSED for browsing at this time to keep the stress level of the animals in our care as low as possible. Thank you for your understanding! We DONT have online applications, we prefer to have a open line of communication with our potential adopters. Our process is more educational based. Our adoption counselors will be able to tell you if the animal you're interested in will be able to go home the same day. Visit rescueleague.org to view our adoptable pets and call 603-472-3647 to schedule an appointment!
