- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Piyo has a bad hip on the left side. It is a bit painful, but easily managed with oral NSAID pills daily. He may eventually need surgery to relieve the pain. The usual surgery is a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) to remove the head of the femur so it doesn't contact the socket in the hip joint.

Meet Piyo
Piyo initially came to animal control as a stray that was never reclaimed. He weighs about 9 pounds and is estimated to be 3-4 years old. Once we had him home, we noticed that Piyo held up his left rear leg occasionally when he runs. The vet determined after x-rays that his hip was probably injured when he was very young and was never treated. He does very well with a inexpensive daily medication that is chewable and he takes it as a treat after breakfast. It is possible that he may need hip surgery some day in his future if the medication is not enough to ease his pain.
Piyo is such a sweet little man with a very shiny, soft coat that is non-shedding. He's shy at first and will take a while to feel safe. He may well have been passed around and is just not sure of his place and what is going to happen.
He's completely housebroken and may have had a doggie door. He's been trustworthy in the house but if food is involved, he is on high alert. He loves to play tag and wrestle with the other dogs his size. He will entertain himself with his bone or a toy. Piyo is a champion snuggler and will charge up onto the bed and dive under the covers. So, guess what, he's been sleeping in my bed. He snuggles as close as he can and doesn't move all night. My feet have been very happy!
This boy is such a happy and gentle soul who just wants to be with his person. He does bark, however, at noises and strangers outside so no apartments or condos for him.
Piyo has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. His adoption fee is $300.00.
