Pixie's Story

Pixie is a petite and precious 10(ish)-year-old Chihuahua weighing just 7lbs of pure sweetness. This little lady has so much love to give and is looking for her perfect forever home to spend her golden years in comfort and peace. Small in size but big in personality, Pixie was rescued in Texas and now loves to be cuddled like a baby. She is gentle, calm, and has the quiet charm that only a senior dog can offer.

Pixie thrives in a calm, quiet environment where she can feel safe and relaxed — a busy or loud household may feel a little overwhelming for this delicate soul. She does wonderfully with the help of a dog playpen, giving her her own cozy sanctuary where she can retreat and recharge on her own terms. If you are looking for a loyal, low-key companion who simply wants to be loved and cared for in her senior years, Pixie could be exactly who you've been waiting for. Could you be the one to give this little girl the peaceful forever home she so deserves?

Other notes from the foster:

- After she acclimates in the playpen, she's very good at mapping out your apartment [she does this by circling and will appear confused; that's just her getting to know her space] and will bump into minimal things once that is done. Great memory for where here beds, bowls are etc.

- Loveees to sleep but equally likes to lick a bully stick, roll a treat ball or do a snuffle mat

- Loves to be held on her back like a baby

- She is deaf. Her eyesight is minimal but she sees motion and has a magnified nose because of this

- Food motivated. Despite her eyesight, she has a talent for knowing exactly when you put her dinner bowl on the floor and will do a speedrun to get to her food. She only has a few teeth, but we wet her solid food with some broth or warm water and she eats it just fine

- She doesn't seem to mind other dogs sharing her space or treats!

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Pixie, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt.truenorthrescue@gmail.com to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
