Pistol's Story

Pistol was surrendered after a disagreement with another dog, so he's looking for a home where he can be the only canine companion. He's a fun, affectionate boy who loves to play and cuddle-sometimes he just doesn't know when to stop! Pistol does well with older children, enjoys car rides, and walks nicely on a leash. He is housebroken and ready to settle into a new home.<br/>Pistol does not do well with cats and would do best in a pet-free home where he can be the center of attention.<br/>He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative, and on prevention.

Erath County Humane Society's Adoption Policy

When someone comes in wanting to adopt, we first ask what they are looking for in a new pet. If they can describe what they are looking for, we will make some suggestions based on that criteria, and then let them go through the shelter looking at the adoptable animals. There are kennel cards on each kennel with information specific to that animal. Once they find an animal they are interested in we do a meet and greet with the person interested in adopting. If they have other pets, we recommend a meet and greet with current pets as well. Whatever animal the potential adopter chooses, we highly suggest a 5 day foster period to make sure the animal and the adopter are a good fit.

The mission of the Erath County Humane Society is to care for unwanted and lost animals, reunite lost animals with their owners and find homes for adoptable pets. We work closely with our community to decrease pet overpopulation and to provide a safe place for animals as they await their permanent homes.
