Pirate Glynn's Story

* AHOY, MATEY! THIS SWEET PIRATE IS SEARCHING FOR HIS FOREVER CREW! *

Ahoy! I’m Pirate Glynn!

I came to GPRA from a shelter, and right now I’m staying with a wonderful foster while I get settled in. But this is only a temporary stop for me, so I’m looking for a foster or forever home where I can continue my journey.

My foster mom describes me as friendly, affectionate, playful, lovable and very, very sweet. I’m what you might call an absolute lover boy! One of my favorite things is pressing myself against my foster’s legs for pets. If the petting stops before I’m ready, I’ll gently bump a hand with my head as a reminder to keep going. And if that doesn’t work, I may toss my head around and huff a little until I get some attention. What can I say? A Pirate knows what he wants!

I enjoy going for walks and am leash trained. I’m not reactive to the things I encounter while walking, and I enjoy having a yard where I can stroll around, sniff and explore. I’m a nice combination of walker and couch potato—a little activity followed by some relaxation sounds pretty good to me!

I enjoy people and have done well with the other pets in my temporary foster home. I’m also respectful of boundaries, a below-average barker, and I load easily into the van when it’s time to go somewhere.

Now, there is one important thing my future family should know about me: I like to have privacy while I eat. I can guard my food bowl from people and other dogs, so my foster simply gives me my own space at mealtime, and I do well with that routine.

Mostly, I’m just a goofy, affectionate guy who wants someone to love—and preferably someone who understands that the petting should never stop.

My temporary foster mom is helping me get started, but now I need my next port of call. Could your home be the one I’ve been searching for?

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days

Our Mission
Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neuter...
