-PIPPIN in Maine's Story

IN MAINE!
We are crossposting this wonderful girl for Pulled From The Pits, A Pitbull Rescue. She has been waiting for almost FOUR years for a family! Meet the sweet 6-year-old Pippin, who has truly mastered the art of simply being. She is happiest when she is near her people, soaking up the sunshine, leaning in for quiet companionship. No big demands, no constant motion. Just presence, warmth, and love.
She has a gentle spirit and an easygoing soul. The kind of dog that makes you slow down without even trying. She watches the world calmly, enjoys soft pets, and seems genuinely content just knowing you are close by. This girl has so much love to give and is ready to share it with a home that appreciates her peaceful nature. She would do best in a home without other animals, where she can fully relax and be the center of someone’s quiet, happy moments.
If you are looking for a loyal companion who brings calm, affection, and sunshine-filled afternoons into your life, she might be the one you have been waiting for. It’s not an exaggeration when we say Pippin is extra special.
This sweet pit mix has something about her that’s hard to explain until you experience it. Pippin seems to have an emotional radar that’s stronger than most people. On a particularly hard afternoon, she somehow knew something wasn’t right — checking in more often, staying close, and going out of her way to be extra gentle and sweet. She’s the kind of dog who senses when you need a quiet companion. The kind who sits beside you, looks up with those soft brown eyes, and reminds you that you’re not alone.
Pippin doesn’t ask for much. She’s calm, affectionate, and happiest simply being near her person. Whether it’s slow walks, quiet moments on the couch, or just being your shadow around the house, Pippin brings a peaceful kind of love that’s hard to find.
She would likely prefer to be your only pet. Small animals, including cats and chickens, aren't really her thing, and small children can make her nervous. With slow introductions, she may be okay with a calm, well-mannered dog, but at this time, she needs to be the only dog where she can soak up all of the love and finally relax in a home.
Pippin isn’t flashy or loud.
She’s just incredibly special.
And somewhere out there is the person who’s going to be very lucky to call her their best friend.
Here’s why she’s basically perfect:
Fully house & crate trained
Calm, quiet car rider
Polite for grooming
Loves outings and adventures
Professional-level snuggler & certified couch potato
After years of waiting, Pippin isn’t asking for much. Just a cozy spot on the couch. A predictable routine. A soft place to land. Someone to finally say, “You’re home.”
She has waited long enough.
Pippin had a very sad history before she was rescued with her daughter, Brenna. Their lives before rescue were cruel: chained outside, unloved, and used. Pippin, the mama, had her teeth pulled and filed down so she couldn’t even protect herself when she was used as a bait dog. And yet… through it all, she remains gentle, forgiving, and full of love.
From the rescue:
THESE GIRLS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ALMOST FOUR YEARS
That’s not just a number.
That’s nearly 1,460 days.
1,460 mornings waking up in a rescue.
1,460 nights falling asleep without a forever family.
1,460 days watching other dogs walk out the door with their people… while they stayed behind.
Pippin and Brenna have been waiting nearly FOUR YEARS.
Mother and daughter.
Two incredible girls who have been through more than most dogs we’ve ever rescued.
They’ve faced things no dog should have to endure.
They once escaped a foster home and returned covered in porcupine quills.
Pippin carries reminders of her past with damage to her mouth from having her teeth filed down before rescue.
Brenna bravely fought through not only that porcupine encounter but also a serious foreign body surgery.
They’ve endured pain, uncertainty, and even an adoption that sadly didn’t work out — through absolutely no fault of their own.
And yet…
They are still here.
Still loving.
Still trusting.
Still hoping someone will finally see them.
Every volunteer in this rescue knows these girls. They are deeply loved by every one of us. We celebrate their victories, laugh at their goofy moments, and worry about them constantly because we know how long they’ve waited.
For a long time, we believed they needed to be adopted together.
But after careful consideration and some real-life trials, we now know something important:
They will thrive separately, and this means two families could change two lives.
**********
Let’s make 2026 the year Pippin and Brenna finally find the forever families they’ve waited almost four years for. Pippin's adoption fee has been partially sponsored, AND there is an extra special perk: She will get a lifetime of free boarding at River Run Pet Retreat in Pittston, Maine!

All questions must be sent directly to the rescue. You can find their contact and other information on the PFTP website here: https://apitbullrescue.org/home. Her daughter, Brenna, is also waiting for a home, although we are only sharing Pippin's information here. If interested, please ask about her at the rescue.
