Pippin's Story

CALABOGIE, ON - SPIN received a call, not unlike many others, that a little poodle mix was being released from a puppy mill. In Pippin’s case, we were told he had started nipping and “putting up a fuss.” In the world of commercial breeding, that’s often all it takes—dogs who bark, resist, or advocate for themselves don’t fit the model. They want the meek and compliant, the ones who quietly endure.

But not Pippin.

His spirit—the very thing that made life harder for him there—is what ultimately saved him. And we absolutely love him for it. ❤️

Pippin is a young boy, estimated to be about a year old, and a little guy at just under 20 pounds. Once he arrived in our care, we whisked him off for a full veterinary check. It’s safe to say he’s not a fan of needles or bloodwork (can you blame him?), and he was very happy to get back to the comfort of his foster home afterward.

Since coming into our care, we have met a frightened but resilient boy who just wants to feel warm, safe, and loved. He is learning that the world doesn’t have to be scary—and that people can be kind. With time, patience, and guidance, Pippin is beginning to settle in and show us who he really is.
