Piper's Story

MEET PIPER:

Hi there! I'm Piper!

Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm a sweet, playful girl who's about 2 years old. They think I'm a Doberman mix, maybe with a little German Shepherd—I like to think I got the best of both!

I've had a bit of a rough start in life. I was adopted from a shelter once before as a puppy, but sadly, my first family abandoned me. I ended up alone, hungry, and very scared until some amazing humans from Detroit Pit Crew found me and saved my life. Now I'm safe and sound with Furever Tails Animal Rescue, getting ready to find my real forever home.

I've been given a clean bill of health from the vet, but I'm still on a special journey to gain some weight. Right now I'm only about 41 pounds, but I should be closer to 60! So my foster family feeds me three times a day with slow, gentle meals to help me grow strong. I'm very good in my kennel when they're away—no chewing or messes, I promise!

Personality-wise? I'm a total goofball! I love playing with other dogs, and I'm absolutely obsessed with tennis balls. (Fair warning—I haven't quite figured out the “fetch” part yet... I tend to keep the ball and invite you to chase me.) I'm tall and sometimes I forget my own size, so I might bump into you gently when I'm excited. I'd do best with kids who don't mind a playful nudge now and then.

Piper requires a fully fenced in yard or someone who is active and like to go for long walks. Tethering Piper is not an option. She would not do well in an apartment, condo, or mobile home. Piper would thrive with a family who understands she is still an active, happy, outgoing, playful girl who requires a family or parent of the same lifestyle that matches her needs.

What I'm really looking for is a family who sees past my skinny frame and understands that with a little love, good food, and patience, I'll blossom into the beautiful, healthy dog I'm meant to be. Most of all, I need someone who will promise to keep me forever—no giving up this time. I have so much love to give, and I know I'll make some family incredibly lucky.

Could that be you?

PIPER is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Spayed

ADOPTION FEE: $300

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
