9/3/25: Foster to adopt home needed!<br/>Everyone, let us reintroduce you to Piper !<br/><br/>This little powerhouse is likely a Chihuahua, possibly Dachshund mix with a sprinkle of Pit Bull. We are endearingly calling her a "Pocket Pitbull" due to her small size and compact stature. At just 27# and about 2.5 years old, she is the perfect pint sized activity partner!<br/><br/>Piper came to us in February, just after her pups were weaned but she has had to stay in boarding since we currently don't have any open foster homes especially for medium to large dogs. If you've been thinking of being a part of a dogs "happily ever after", now may be the perfect time to open up your home to fostering!<br/><br/>Piper is very active, loves her toys and is looking for an active family to give her a loving home, lifelong this time. She will need a home with older children since she is very strong despite only being about a foot tall at the shoulders. She needs work with not pulling on the leash and learning not to jump up, but with a little time and consistency, we are sure she will pick these things up. She is dog selective and likely too much for cats in the home, but she is really a sweet girl and deserves a chance at a home.<br/><br/>Aside from toys, this girl likes her treats and these can be used as a positive reward in her training. We think Piper deserves a chance at a forever home, don't you?<br/><br/>We are looking for a foster to adopt home for this little sweetie, maybe yours?<br/><br/>Fostering is free, but if you choose to adopt, an adoption donation of $450 is being asked to cover a portion of her veterinary and care fees. She has been examined, vaccinated, treated for intestinal and external parasites and has been spayed.<br/><br/>Due to her size and energy level, foster or foster to adopt requirements are:<br/>-Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY to continue her vetting, if needed, prior to adoption. Once adopted, we recommend establishing her at your regular veterinarians office.<br/>-Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.<br/>-We are unsure how she does with other dogs at this time, but would likley be too much for cats in the home. <br/>Like all new arrivals, she will need a patient and consist home so she can grow into the best girl she can be <br/>-Homes with children over 12 years old should be ok since she is an active girl and likes to jump up on people<br/>-Willing to have current dogs/family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure they are an acceptable match<br/>-Having time available to care for, socialize and start training of a new pet.<br/><br/> Apply to foster to adopt today! https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form<br/><br/>3/15/25: <br/><br/>This little powerhouse is likely a Chihuahua, possibly Dachshund mix with a sprinkle of Pit Bull. With 7 puppies left behind, momma Piper seemed very relieved to finally have a much needed break once she arrived. <br/><br/>Piper is very active, loves her toys and is looking for an active family to give her a loving home, lifelong this time. She will need a home with older children since she is very steong despite only being about a foot tall at the shoulders. She needs work with not pulling on the leash and learning not to jump up, but with a little time and consistency, we are sure she will pick these things up. We aren't sure how she does with other dogs yet, but we think she would likley chase smaller animals, like cats, if given a chance.<br/><br/>Aside from toys, this girl likes her treats and these can be used as a positive reward in her training. Dogs in the home must come to the meet and greet as well to be sure they will get along with the new pet. Veterinary reference check and adoption donation also required.
