Pip's Story

***PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO & ADOPTION CRITERIA BEFORE CONTACTING OREGON DACHSHUND RESCUE INC. OR APPLYING FOR ADOPTION, THANKS!***

MEET Pip -

This adorable puppy will be ready for adoption on 4/3. He, and his 6 other siblings, were born on 2/2. He’s a beautiful white colored with black spots dapple, short haired dachshund. He has one micro eye, possible vision or hearing issues. He is good with other dogs and kids, but hasn’t been around cats. Must be placed in home with a small dachshund, he will need to learn to follow. Must sign contract to neuter him at 6 months of age. If you can give Pip a loving forever home please fill out an application today!

Adoption Application:
https://form.jotform.com/62555766852165

Pip will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, Pip enjoys playing and warming their little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around their neighborhood, Pip needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, Oregon Dachshund Rescue Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes (or Duplexes) with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We generally do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together. We prefer non-smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

All our dogs are vetted and vaccinated. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a harness. The adoption fee is $595, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet/dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give Pip a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net
The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.

Oregon Dachshund Rescue Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The following is a list of criteria that we look for in potential adopters (we realize that not everyone will appreciate our requirements) but we've found these homes to be the most successful: *Securely fenced yard (Apartment living not accepted) *Adopter over 21 years of age *Shouldn't work long hours away from home -working full time away from home will not be allowed. Preference given to retired or work from home/stay at home or limited part time work. These are very social dogs and they do best when they can be with their people most of the time. *Non-smoking home *We don't normally place same sex dogs in a household *We will not place our rescue dogs in a home with small animals like hamsters, chickens, rabbits, etc. as these dogs have a strong prey instinct The first seven days of your adoption will be considered a trial period. If you and your new pet are not a match for each other for any reason, this is a good way to find out. You will be asked to check in regularly to let Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. know things are going well. You may also be asked to allow a visit from an Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. representative to make sure all is well.
