Pinta (10)'s Story

Hello! I’m Pinta (10), a lovely, large-sized (77lb), 6-year-old dog with short brown and black hair. I’ve already been dewormed, vaccinated, and spayed thanks to my rescuer. And I've recently started eating a low-fat diet, according to my vet's suggestion.

My rescuer found me in a vacant lot. I had been abandoned and was also pregnant. This person started feeding me, as well as other dogs roaming the area, and took me to be spayed as soon as possible. I stayed there for a while until the neighbors threatened to call animal control, but luckily, someone offered to take me in and help me find a home. I've been waiting for a whole year now but nobody has noticed me. I don't know if it's my age, my size, or my color, because I'm the friendliest dog whenever I go to adoption events! I don't lose hope though!

Even though I may look tough in my pictures, I’m actually a really friendly dog, which is why I adapted quickly to the rest of my canine companions (I don't like cats, though). I really enjoy being petted and I am very affectionate with people. However, that doesn’t stop me from being protective, so I usually bark at strangers. I'm an excellent guardian and I'll alert you whenever I see, hear, or smell something strange.

I use the dog door to come inside the house, where I like to rest in the designated dog space my foster home has in their living room. When the weather is nice, I enjoy being outside and sunbathing.

I have no problem being around elderly people, or children. I enjoy going out for walks and spend my time sniffing around, so I quickly learned to be on a leash. I love cuddles, scratches, and kisses. I also enjoy getting my fur brushed, and having company while I eat.

The cold weather brought back an old injury in one of my legs, it's nothing severe but I'll need to take a pill to strengthen my joints from now on. On my good days, I walk fast, jump, and run without a problem. On my bad days I may struggle a bit to get up and walk a bit slower. However, I'm still an excellent adventure companion!

I hope to find a loving and responsible family that will take good care of me!

Once the adopter's information is submitted – name, phone number, address, email, and the name of the animal they wish to adopt – a volunteer from the organization will contact them within the next three business days, either electronically or by phone, to conduct an interview via video call in order to verify that the requirements are met and to complete the adoption form. If the application is approved, we will schedule the delivery of the dog or cat to begin their two-week trial period, allowing the adopting family to spend time with the animal and decide if they want to adopt them permanently. All animals are delivered dewormed, vaccinated, and sterilized. A recovery fee of 20 USD per animal is requested for delivery in Mexicali, Baja California. We can also cross the border to El Centro, Calexico, Heber, or Yuma, but in this case, it is necessary to place a microchip in the dogs, which incurs an additional cost of 25 USD. Eventually, we can transport the animals to San Diego or Los Angeles, but a 40 USD transportation fee is requested.
